BLACKTOPIA
Design and execute an exhibit titled "Blacktopia: Detroit 3000," showcasing an art collection by Tylonn J. Sawyer.
OBJECTIVES
Organize and present an art exhibit at the FSU Fine Art Gallery featuring pieces by Tylonn J. Sawyer. Created using Midjourney, these AI-driven works explore the concept of a Black Utopia in Detroit in the year 3000. The exhibit aims to engage Ferris students and faculty while sparking discussions on the ethical implications of AI-generated art.

In this project, I was responsible for assisting with concepting the exhibit, designing the exhibit space, and designing and coding the website.

OUR CONCEPT
My contribution to the concept was the idea to use squares in the exhibit to show that the images were made with AI pixels. My plan was to make everything that could be square, square, and arrange images on the wall in a pixel-like pattern.
Utilizing pieces in the exhibit, we created eye-catching promotional assets to drive traffic to the Blacktopia website. https://freshmindsthinkdesign.com/blacktopia/
I used Figma to create the website layout and coded the text and images. With my website partner, Max, we ensured the site was compatible and responsive across different platforms. This process required many iterations.
THE EXHIBIT SPACE
As part of my contribution to the exhibit, I curated the art pieces on the exhibit walls. The artist and art curator welcomed student involvement, as there was an abundance of artwork, making it difficult to display everything.
