UNDERSTANDING THE USER
From communicating and conducting cognitive walkthroughs with an experienced trails user I was able to find issues and inspiration that would help me design Wyoming Trails to meet the needs of trail users.
I identified key challenges during a typical day on the trails. The sense of isolation, difficulties in navigating paths, and the desire to track ones health activity were pain points.
DEVELOPING THE BRAND
For the trails app brand, I used a bold palette to create a vibrant and versatile identity. The logo changes with each season, showcasing both day and night versions to make it more relatable and visually engaging throughout the year.

APPLICATIONS
MOBILE APPLICATION
I started crafting preliminary iterations for the digital application, accompanied by a user flowchart, based on the understanding I had developed with the user.
PRIMARY USER FLOW
Once creating an account the user will go to their profile to fill out their information. Through Wyoming Trails, the user can find their desired trail through searching, filtering, maps, and reviews.
HEALTH ACTIVITY
The users can also check their health activity and set up reminders to exercise.
In Track Path Progress, the user can choose to go through a trail in real-time while the app times them, calculates their distance, and gives them updates on landmarks.
NATURE COMMUNITY FLOW
The nature community within the application provides a way for users to connect with trail users in their area by allowing them to comment on, share, and take and post photos.
